Eyes Wide Open
One of the most moving moments I experienced at the RNC had to have been the Eyes Wide Open exhibit (afsc.org/eyes) in Union Square. Shoes were lined like gravestones blanketing the front of the square, a somber representation of soldiers and civilians who have died in Iraq. I found this (as well as the casket march during the UPJ march) to be incredibly powerful in its simplicity, stopping spin like “collateral damage” dead in its tracks.

This is coming to Toledo soon and I’m really happy it is. This sort of reminder of the realities of war should be an important part of this election.
