Iraq: Irony Killed in Battle

I cite the following examples to prove that Irony has evidently been felled in recent friendly-fire attacks.

-in the wake of the 10/13/02 Iraqi ‘election’ which saw an overwhelming victory for Saddam Hussein. President Bush’s reaction? He expressed outrage that Hussein stole the election and cited it as another example of why he needs to be ousted.
-Scott McClellan, Bush White House spokesmodel, noted in the face of increasing popularity of fundamentalist cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, that al-Sadr ought not be taken seriously as a leader as he is, y’know, just basically trading on his father’s popularity and political record.
-the man appointed by the Bush Administration to restructure Iraq’s economy, Michael Fleischer noted cheerfully in the Chicago Tribune that his brother (former White House spokesmodel Ari Fleischer) got him his job with the Iraqi Provisional Authority. Mr. Fleischer went on to observe that “(t)he only paradigm (the Iraqi people) know is cronyism. We are teaching them that there is an alternative system…”
