Not to Miss: Michael Moore and The Slacker Uprising Tour
Michael Moore kicked-off his 60-city Slacker Uprising Tour in Syracuse this week. Ten thousand tickets sold out three days in advance of Wednesday’s event and hours before Moore was scheduled to take the stage, dozens of desperate Central New Yorkers walked the grounds of the Syracuse University Carrier Dome holding signs that read, “Need Tickets!” Waiting for the gates to open, thousands of people watched radical cheerleaders, registered to vote, picked up pamphlets on political candidates, and erupted in spontaneous chanting. And when Moore finally took the stage inside, the crowd went absolutely nuts.
I’m posting two sound files to give you a taste of what’s in store when the Slacker Uprising Tour stops at city near you (and in case you haven’t heard, Clamor is hosting Michael Moore in Toledo October 25th at the Seagate Centre). The first is an interesting Point/Counterpoint piece between a libertarian from Tennessee who wants Bush out of office, and a man known as Syracuse’s anti-liberal, anti-Moore, anti-peace group one-man band (though for the Moore event he managed to round-up about 20 sympathizers to stand next him and his life-sized Michael Moore dummy, hanging from a noose). I interviewed these two people separately, though I spliced together their comments for this audio piece. However, to maintain fairness and integrity, the individual interviews are chronologically accurate. The second sound piece is a short story about Moore’s talk that I filed for the radio station I work at in Syracuse.
Enjoy! And, be sure to get your tickets in advance.

It hasn’t been easy to coordinate Moore’s visit to Toledo. It’s certainly the largest event we’ve tried to coordinate, but after hearing this report, I’m prett sure it’s going to be well worth all the hard work. Man, I hope I can get tickets….
