The Political Power of the Midwest
The Midwest is powerful — no doubt about it. The "too little too late" strategy of throwing money and attention at Midwest states in the twilight of the 2004 election is a painful reminder that we’re an afterthought. People and organizations who claim to care about progressive social/political change but aren’t willing to meet the middle of the country are short-sighted and coastal-centric — a problem that will be a HUGE roadblock to any lasting progressive change.
