Voiceless Victims of Katrina

Hi All - overwhelmed by Katrina news coverage and feeling powerless to do anything? We hope you’ll consider supporting our comrades and activists working to make change amid the chaos.

A Clamor friend and supporter, Billy Sothern, is an attorney who lives in New Orleans and works with inmates on death row. You might have heard how he helped Ryan Matthews have his conviction overturned and get released from death row last year. Amazing work, we think.

Billy is raising money to help the families of his clients evacuate and survive - tax deductible donations can be made online through his non-profit organization, Reprieve.

While you’re there, look around the site and learn more about Reprieve - the project brings students from overseas to work on death-penalty cases in the South.

Read more about the situation in Billy’s article for Salon.com.
